April 20, 2020

This release is FULL of items that support your efforts during these times of uncertainty! See details below about enabling a new option to allow members to switch to a monthly payment options. In addition, we are introducing a new benefit tracking module that gives you a way to keep track of the specific benefit assignments and subsequent use.

Join our product team for a 30-minute webinar on April 30th @ noon (central) to learn about the recent improvements we've made to your ChamberMaster/MemberZone software, including the great new features listed below.

Offer Monthly Autopay Instead of One Large Annual Invoice

Many of your members will be looking for ways to 'make it through' this season financially. Some might think that paying for their annual membership dues just doesn't fit anymore. What's true is that your members need you more now than ever.

In fact, to help handle the delicate wording of renewal invoices, we've created an email template ("New Email Template" below) you can use/tweak that reminds them why their membership is critical at this time. However, maybe that large annual payment is still a bit tough right now. We've got you covered!

GrowthZone Pay (GZ Pay) customers now have the option to allow both new and existing members to switch to monthly*. It's a win-win: Your renewing members hopefully won't need to chose between paying their annual membership or dropping. Instead, they can easily switch over to a monthly investment model. New members can signup with monthly autopay right on the membership application. Your association gains from the automatic revenue stream each month which is guaranteed to be collected due to a requirement of setting up autopay.

Existing Members Can Switch At Payment Time
Once enabled by you (see "How to Allow the Switch to Monthly" below), any annual recurring membership invoice will automatically display the new "Switch to monthly billing" link on the invoice payment screen. Members will be required to enter their credit card and agree to monthly payments going forward. This will minimize your 'renewal conversation' next year since they are agreeing to continuous monthly payments.

To ensure your members are aware that monthly will be an option for them as they go to pay their membership invoice, we recommend including mention of this new option to switch to monthly billing in your messaging to them when you send out their invoices. That way they will realize immediately that you have their situation in mind and are offering a way to reduce their immediate cash outlay but still retain all their benefits which continues support for your organization during this time when your advocacy for them is at an all-time high.

New Members Can Select Monthly Autopay from the Application
When bringing on new members through the membership application, an option to allow them to switch to monthly autopay will appear next to each membership package if the new setting is enabled (see "How to Allow the Switch to Monthly" below).

Many new customers appreciate the ability to setup autopay so they don't have to worry about remembering to pay their invoice. On the flipside, your association benefits from receiving a monthly revenue stream without any administrative overhead, giving you more time to focus on things that matter most - your members!

How to Allow the Switch to Monthly:
Customers utilizing GZ Pay  -
As long as autopay is enabled, you only have one additional step that is needed. Enable "Allow switching from annual to monthly payments" under Setup>Billing Options and Settings in the Credit Card section. This will immediately begin displaying the "Switch to monthly autopay" link on the membership application (version 4 only) and on the invoice payment screen for qualifying memberships and invoices.

Customers not utilizing GZ Pay -
The ability to offer the option to switch to monthly is only available to those customers with GZ Pay. Contact to learn more about this uniquely integrated payment processor. GZ Pay offers many direct benefits that are not able to be offered through third party payment processors like or PayPal. In addition, ability to take credit card payment with a card reader from the staff app is only possible with GZ Pay.

*Requires GrowthPay with autopay enabled.

Benefit Tracking -

An Integrated Way to Support Unique Membership Offerings

Especially during this time, it is important that your membership offerings match what your members really need and want. There is no better way to reinforce your value to members by offering exactly that - tailored membership benefits! Many of you already allow members to pick their membership package based on their desired involvement, often referred to as tiered dues. Now you can do that and easily track it as well.

With this popular model of offering memberships in mind, we are excited to announce a new Benefit Tracking module included in all Pro Editions immediately and also available as an add-on for Plus and Premiere editions.

Assign a Custom Membership Package
This module allows assignment of benefit packages, made up of benefit items, defined exactly as you need them. You can even start with a base package assigned and then add or remove specific items as needed for a particular member.

Automatic Event Benefit Use Tracking
This feature will include the ability to offer event discounts, displaying their available benefit item as an option to be applied when registering for the event. This serves a dual-purpose - - 1) so they don't forget to use their benefits and 2) a constant visual reminder to them of why they are a member - they get benefits!

For staff members, the best part of this is that the recording of their event benefit usage happens automatically. Tracking will also be available to manually record one-off usage of other items (e.g., conference room usage, free membership mailing labels, etc).

Easily Remind Members of Their Membership Benefits
Making sure your members know what's remaining to be used will keep their membership value in front of them throughout the year. We've made that easy by providing a mass email option to each member of their assigned, used, and remaining benefit items.

New Event Report -

Ease of Reporting on Additional Items

With some customers using the Event module to sell gift cards on behalf of their members, reporting on Additional Fees items has been a popular request.

In response, we've created a new report where you can easily see the quantities sold and to who in the summary version. The detailed version includes the registrants contact information in case you also need to reach out to these purchasers.

However, Additional Fee Items are used for many different purposes - - selling golf mulligans, t-shirts, and all types of 'extras' at your events, virtual or in-person. With so many pertinent uses for this report, we've made this report available from the event Guest List reports icon. (See image to the right.)

New Email Template -

Wording Idea for Handling Renewal

One question we know is weighing heavy on most association's minds is "do I send out renewals?"

We've consistently heard, and also recommend, yes. This is a time where you are doing unparalleled work on your member's behalf and you want to reinforce that value.

We've create an email template in your Predefined Email Templates with a suggestion on how to handle the delicate wording of renewal invoices.

Providing new features and more benefits is something that GrowthZone is committed to. Software release features are often generated from your feature requests. Those requests may be combined or adapted to fit with other requests or in response to industry related changes. We listen, evaluate, and implement based on greatest impact, most-requested, ability to integrate, and time-saving implication. In evaluating the benefit of one software release over another, please understand that sometimes the updates have required significant programming time but are not always visible in tangible terms.
